The process of ice dying results in unpredicable and exciting visual displays. I get to modify and manipulate these garments to present an optimal palette for the dy to present the colors and mixes resulting from the slow melting of ice and the introduction of gravity to achieve dramatic results I like to use a colorway of 2 to 5 color dyes. Some dyes are true to color, and will always be that color. While other dyes are a mixture of various pigments that when mixed with melting water, produce exciting effectsThere are also dyes that have been premixed with pigments that will produce veyr unexpected results. Such as the color shown above came from Dharma Trading Company Ice dye “Warrior Princess” which is one of my favorites. A colorway can be applied to 2 different identical shirts with dramatically different results, both beautiful and unique.
